The Real Theatre Company (2003) Ltd

The Real Theatre Company (RTC) is the creative collaboration of well-known theatre director, David Coddington and Theatre Producer and Designer Sarah Burren. Collectively they have worked in the theatre, film and television industries for over 60 years. David has directed a number of professional theatre productions throughout New Zealand, and co-owns and runs the South Seas Film and Television School, which he also co-founded.

The Real Theatre Company's members all recognized the presence of a very real market for theatre on the North Shore and the absence of an established professional theatre company to meet this market opportunity. On March 1st 2003 The Real Theatre Company was formed with Peter Schaeffer's award winning play Amadeus.

Vision

RTC has established itself on sound commercial principles as a leader in professional performing arts in New Zealand and has gained the support of North Shore City Council.

It has earned a reputation among the business and artistic communities for dramatic and artistic excellence and as a sound commercial enterprise with which they are proud to be associated. They have also been the major driving force behind Victoria Theatre in Devonport, Auckland and instrumental in preserving an iconic heritage theatre.

Mission Statement

We have dedicated ourselves to ensuring that our audience experiences a great day or night out every time they come to an event hosted by The Real Theatre Company and which will ensure their on-going support of subsequent productions.
